Melé is a beatmaker and DJ carving a bass music niche all of his own. Combining his particular strain of euphoric high-octane dance music with sounds from the UK underground and hip hop from across the Atlantic, he has garnered radio play by some of the countries key players: Annie Mac, Mista Jam, Zane Lowe, Nick Grimshaw and Toddla T. Loved by ravers the world over and on rotation with cutting edge selectors Rustie, Hudson Mohawke and Shy FX to name but a few.

The boy from the Wirral’s sonic domination continues with an ever increasing back catalogue showcases his versatility and producer prowess. He has released across a host of labels including Sinden’s label Grizzly and Mixpak Records.

Remix credits include: Disclosure, Wretch 32, Lianne LaHavas, Surkin and Gucci Mane. He’s spent the last year forging a creative studio partnership with premiere grime MC Kano collaborating on ‘Beamer’. Between studio sessions and gigs, Melé has also put in appearances at Rinse FM,1Xtra, Radio 1, Boiler Room and created guest mixes for Lucky Me and Red Bull Studios London.

In the studio he is focused and considered, meticulously balancing crisp snares, huge sub bass with 808 claps and rolling synths. Heavyweignt tunes like ‘Beamer’ and ‘Starlight Express’ are a nod to his hip hop muses DJ Premier, Just Blaze and Dr.Dre. Melé’s beat creation is informed by a fascination and detailed understanding of analogue gear. His obsession started in his early teens where he would spend hours tinkering with drum machines in his bedroom and a retro copy of Reason. Since then he has upgraded to Logic and keeps the machines close for inspiration.

On the dancefloor Melé’s DJ sets mainline into the crowds psyche. He confidently blends a mature selection with iconic 90s house and techno hits riding next to garage bangers and his contemporary bass tracks like: hands-in-the-air epic ‘Confetti Cannons’ and a re-edit of Hud Mo and Lunice’s Bugg’n slipped in for good measure. In 2012 Melé had a real homecoming at Creamfields, Liverpool playing to thousands, including friends and family, for Annie Mac’s A.M.P stage. Soon after Creamfields Melé whipped the crowd into a hysterical frenzy under The Westway at Red Bull Music Academy and Major Lazer’s Notting Hill Carnival party. Playing back-to-back with UK funky pioneer Lil Silva the duo complimented each other with a selection of bass bullets. Melé has also crossed the fader with childhood hero Mike Skinner, garage supremeo Oneman and Radio 1 DJ Monki. Out of the booth Melé’s unique and individual production skills make him hot property with crème de la crème of vocal and MC talent all lining up to create club hits.
