Lil Silva’s current production output and live credentials seem a far cry from the Bedford-based, makeshift studio from which he exploded in 2008. Although club shows have got bigger and original/collaborative releases have got better, Lil Silva’s musical influence and focus still remains: an unabashed amalgamation of the minimal machine funk of Chicago’s Trax label, the aggression of early grime, a tropical resonance with soca, a semblance with the rugged darkness of modern techno and the sonic invention of The Neptunes.

With what seems like an inherent ability for more composition focused music making, 2013 will see the ex-bedroom producer turn his hand to songwriting.
