Benji B is one of the UK’s most respected DJs. Renowned worldwide for his radio shows and club sets alike, he’s amassed a fanbase who have come to see him as a leader in the future music movement.

Having worked non-stop since first falling in love with London’s club culture at an early age, he’s as happy DJing in front of a thirty thousand strong festival crowd as he is facing a basement of devoted regulars at his own critically acclaimed club night, Deviation. Since moving to BBC Radio 1 in October 2010, after 8 years of broadcasting on its digital sister station BBC 1xtra, Benji has excelled in conveying his passion for new music. Providing the major outlet on the station for the work of a variety of labels and flying the flag for a new generation of producers. Playing the latest and greatest music from hiphop to house, techno, soul and everything in between, while inviting some of the very best artists to the show for interviews and exclusive mixes ranging from Carl Craig, Odd Future, James Blake, Hype Williams, Jamie XX to Larry Heard, Juan Atkins, J Rocc and Kode 9 to name but a few. As a DJ it is easier to count the countries Benji hasn’t DJ’ed in than the ones he has. Every weekend he is in a different part of the world and is one of the UK’s most international specialist DJs, playing regularly in the USA, Japan, Middle East, Asia, Australia, as well as Europe regularly.

Benji has been running his club night Deviation in London for the last six years. Each month he installs a bespoke soundsystem on which have played the likes of Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Joy Orbison, Floating Points and Skream to Moodymann, Dam-Funk, Theo Parrish, Omar-S and many more. Over the last six years Deviation has been widely regarded as one of the most innovative, most important and very best club nights in London.

Simply put, Benji’s been on the frontline of new music since his teens and whether he’s playing it on his show, investigating it for himself in venues the world over, consulting, arranging or producing for high profile artists and labels, working on special projects, or simply hosting and promoting it under the banner of his Deviation club night, music is a passion that seems to influence every one of his everyday pursuits.
